What Kind of Tree?
West Roxbury, June 2008A few years ago, the tree right next to my parents' house died. When the city removed it, they planted a different kind of tree. It's awesome, and I have been trying to figure out what kind of tree it is. It has these clouds of tiny star-shaped flowers (closer view bottom picture), and it smells something like honeysuckle, but less overwhelmingly sweet.

Celebration
Boylston Street, June 2008This is from the Celtics championship parade. The first truck in the lineup was shooting green and white confetti out into the crowd, and I love the way this picture came out with the rain of confetti against the blue sky, and the upraised hands of the crowd.

Elm Petals
Public Garden, May 2008In late spring, elm trees drop these petals. They are ecru, and delicate, and lovely. They make a soft rustling noise that I love. On windy days, they fall from the trees like rain. They cover the ground for blocks around the Public Garden in May, because the south side of the Garden is lined with majestic elms. If I ever got married, I would want these to be thrown instead of rice or flower petals.
