Dorchester, September 2008I took this during the Hub on Wheels bikeathon. It's a bikeathon that takes place entirely in the city of Boston. One of my favorite stretches was in Dorchester. First, we rode down a bike path that travels alongside the Mattapan Trolley route, with murals all along the wall on the trolley side of the path, and the Neponset River along the other side. That path comes out to a packed dirt/gravel path through the Neponset River Reservation, which then feeds into Pope John Paul II Park. This shot is looking back along the Neponset River Reservation part.

Farmers' Market
Copley Square, September 2008I love farmers' markets. I love fall. I love fall foods. I love the way they taste, the way they smell, the way they look. Pumpkins, squashes and other gourds; apples and ciders and breads. This is from the farmers' market in Copley Square, which in the fall, is wonderful, and beautiful. I had a cup of delicious fresh cider as I walked through taking pictures. I am supposed to go apple-picking in a few weeks, and I cannot wait. It is one of my favorite activities: eating apples fresh off the tree, picking out pumpkins, shopping for breads and honey and apple butter in the little shop, being out in the crisp autumn air...there's nothing better. I always thought it would be my 'perfect date' activity for a date in the fall.
