Fall Blossoms

I used the tiny blossoms from these bushes as the main section of the mask I made for my work's anniversary party, which was a semi-formal masquerade this year. I made the mask from a plastered gauze material which I molded to my face. I then painted it, drilled holes in the sides to put in ribbon ties, and used a glue gun to cover it in dried leaves, flowers and twigs. These particular tiny flowers made up a large diagonal which started at the top on one side, surrounded one eye, crossed my nose, and filled in underneath the other eye. They took a long time to glue, one blossom at a time, but I was really happy with the result. I will try to post a picture of the mask later.

This is from a tiny garden around the corner from my apartment, in Bay Village. I don't know how or why, but the flowers in this garden always seem to have more color than other flowers. They are saturated. It is always gorgeous.

What Kind of Tree?

A few years ago, the tree right next to my parents' house died. When the city removed it, they planted a different kind of tree. It's awesome, and I have been trying to figure out what kind of tree it is. It has these clouds of tiny star-shaped flowers (closer view bottom picture), and it smells something like honeysuckle, but less overwhelmingly sweet.

One Red Tulip in a Bed of White Ones

I love the way the white ones glow in the sunlight. This day was an almost absurdly beautiful spring day, especially in the Public Garden, where the swan boats were out, and all of the flowers and flowering trees were in full bloom. I walked over the bridge on the middle path of the park, and just past the end, a branch reached out over the path. On the branch sat a robin, singing out to everyone who passed. It was like a cartoon it was so lovely and springy.
